About
David was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. An outdoorsman his whole life, he grew up chasing wild game in the Tennessee backwoods. After touring the country as guitar player he landed on Northern Michigan as his place to call home. In his free time if David isn’t cranking his guitar amp to eleven, he’s avidly seeking outdoor adventures in the woods and waters.
Knowing just how difficult it can be to find a good taxidermist in an area where the hunter outweighs the artist, David took matters into his own hands by combining his love for the arts and the outdoors. He headed East to attend classes at the Northwood Institute of Taxidermy in Friedens, Pennsylvania. There he studied under Joel Zimmerman, a legend in the industry, and graduated with a degree the art of taxidermy.
Working on all varieties of wild game he has you covered across the board. Small game, big game, birds and fish. The goal at Satori Taxidermy is simple… Create memories of your hunt that will last forever.
Satori is a Japanese Buddhist term for awakening, "comprehension; understanding". It is derived from the Japanese verb satoru. In the Zen Buddhist tradition, satori refers to a deep experience of kenshō, "seeing into one's true nature". Ken means "seeing," shō means "nature" or "essence".
